Faster delivery/upgrade - Craig's orders

Here is my information.

December 3, 2008 - initial order placed and NOT paid for (from Craig)

* After a bunch of botched attempts to send them money, finally got one that worked after some laziness *

* I also got refunded either before Dec 3rd or after, I don't recall when that occurred *

May 11, 2009 - confirmed payment, told 1700-1800 in batch 1 queue

March 14, 2012 - upgraded, position in upgrade queue is 36

April 16, 2012 - order sent, confirmation email of shipment

April 17, 2012 - tracking number sent (Royal/USPS), on Airmail to IL, USA

April ?, 2012 - I die a happy man

Yours is a upgrade. I'm talking about a non-upgraded batch 2 being delivered before a non-upgraded batch 1.

I'm also curious about this. I ordered day 2 and have not received my pandora either. When I e-mailed to check on my order I was just given a link back to the forum where ED explained how the new and old orders were being sent out together and that she did not know my queue position. I don't think my actual order number was ever looked up though.

If I'm not mistaken, the batch 2 orders were a bit more expensive than Batch 1, and thus filling some of those orders before doing all the Batch 2 orders is a way for ED's company to keep the money in; as you probably already know, the production costs in Germany are higher and they're not making profit when shipping Batch 1 orders. In fact, when sending those orders, they still need income to pay the current production, so there go the upgrades and recent orders. But for early batch 2, I don't know. Maybe there's a detail I missed somewhere. I think both batch 1 and batch 2 orders have paid already, but not the new orders, so my hypothesis (that batch 2 is more expensive) wouldn't make sense. It might also depend on whom they ordered to, either Craig or EvilDragon.

Honestly, a preorder is a preorder, whether it's batch 1 or batch 2. Unless it's a special circumstance (like Mosschops letting a developer take his day 1 spot) the non-upgraded preorders should be distributed by order date/time. If that's not being done, they need to explain why.

No I think you are wrong, batch1 and 2 are managed in the exact same way, you think of "premium" order (or upgrade)...

or I am mistaken?

i suspect "batch 1" and "batch 2" are managed in the same way. i dont know abour pricing as its so long ago i cant remember.

However suffice to say (it wont come as any consolation to people still waiting) that units are being shipped out by Craig and his merry (and might i add excellent) ladies. Their order may seem arcane, odd or even downright baffling to us but i am reasonably sure there is some sort of order albeit one that is not overley transparent to us.

Again it will come as no consolation but these new pandoras, and indeed the old ones are fantastic and well worth the wait. Like many here my life has changed considerably since i ordered mine and my original one nubber is now in the hands of my fiance who has little patience for things that dont "just work". She started a new job a week or so ago but had been WFH on a new project and turned up to the new office yesterday to find no IT available. So she fired up her Pandora and used wifi to check her email and access docs on sharepoint editing via Abiword. She then plugged in a USB ethernet dongle and wired into the network, pulled down a load of docs and some video and spent the day emailing, working on training manuals while IM'ing me and streaming music off my home NAS and watching videos only to break at lunch and use the excellent Pickle Launcher and emus behind it to play some Mario Kart and Tetris.

Other people in the building stopped and asked what she was doing while they lugged around huge laptops from one meeting to another while she just popped Pandora into her handbag (they are like TARDIS' those things) and were amazed when she showed them what she was doing on a "nintendo like my son has".

When i was a kid and i had my spectrum 48k then 128 then +2, NES, SNES and Amigas etc I dreamt of being able to just play a game whenever i wanted. I could never envision being able to carry around and entire game library of all these things and just pick and choose what i wanted to play where and when and just play. Of course i had no idea of word processors, spreadsheets, IM or even digital music and videos.

Just so we're clear, Mosschops, I'm not upset at you at all. Like I said previous, your order was a special case and I completely understand why you would of gotten yours first. It's just the frustration of seeing many other people get theirs already. Believe me, if I had the funds, I would upgrade as well.

i was in the same position as you, luckliy when i was waiting first time i was able to afford to buy a one nubber and that satiated my thirst and i have been over the moon ever since. well that is until the new one arrived and well.. sorry, salt/wounds etc.

Let's be real guys. Those of us who bought this crap in 2009-2010 will not be getting one unless we pay MORE to upgrade. This is the worst company, with the worst customer service I have ever witnessed in my entire life. I have been telling everyone I know about this, and will continue to do so. 3 years! Are you kidding me!? They have the nerve to make me wait, then tell me "pay more for the upgrade to get it sooner." NO PANDORA SEND ME MY DAMN MACHINE

This company will not last, eventually someone with time and money will be pissed off and that is the end of Pandora.

Not sure if really young, or just hasn't dealt with very many companies.

Seriously advanced member who most likely works for the company? I have never waited this long for anything I have paid for in my entire life. With over 3,000 posts its obvious you're in bed with Pandora as an employee or something else, so save it.

do you know the actual reasons behind why you havnt received a pandora yet?

do you know the actual reasons why you havnt lost your money outright and still will get a pandora at some point?

Your first post here ever is a rant, after 3 years of knowing about pandora?

I dont like the upgrade option either and question the ethics behind it. But if you really followed what has happened and the plans for pandora currently then you would know that openpandora is really trying to meet new orders and the older orders.

The alternative was to go bankrupt and you see nothing, including the money you already spent.

First batch orderers are being met, granted right now its those that take the upgrade route. But soon those should become smaller as more and more pandoras are produced. As far as I know by whats been posted the factory in Germany still has yet to go into full speed production, once that happens first batch orders should rapidly decrease.

awaiting over emotional raging response....

Hah! I wish I was getting paid. If product wait is your definition for a bad company than 3D Realms has OPT beat by a wide margin, but I digress.

OPT has done nothing illegal yet, if that's what you're trying to say. Under consumer law you are entitled to one of two things: a product delivered when it is available, or a refund. Refunds are being issued. If you don't like it, take your refund. It really is that simple. A lot of people have gotten refunds because they couldn't afford the wait any longer or they found something that suited their needs better. Meanwhile others, who did not upgrade, have received the systems they have patiently waited 3 years for and for the most part are quite happy with them. The choice is yours: wait patiently with the rest of us, or take your refund and go. Posting in anger the way you have accomplishes nothing. Less than nothing because you've wasted your time ranting which could have been spent contacting them to get a refund.
