Faster delivery/upgrade - Craig's orders

they choose to make us assume the errors of CC.

all happened as if CC were legally untouchable. they failed and this is for customers to suffer the consequences of their errors either by paying more than initially, or by waiting until newer customers have all their unit, or by cancelling order.

it is logical, isn't it..?
Do you have any idea how long a lawsuit actually takes? It can be years, and even then you might not get the money owed for a few years after. Craig has already said they're investigating legal recourse against CC but if you expect that any of that money would arrive in a timely manner to save the project then you are exceedingly delusional. Taking new pre-orders is probably the only logical option they had to survive, it was either that or halt production entirely until, years later, they finally get their compensation from CC, and by then it is way too late.

Guess my money was good enough in October of 2008 and not good enough now

You are right, I think this too in some way, but I'm not going anywere cause this is the only project that caught my attention in years, and I think also that it can be a start to something bigger.

I lurked the forums for 2 years (~ 2 Months) before taking the decision to trust these men (and ED made the most part in that).

Now, even if I don't have a Pandora yet, I can see something here that have no price (even for a MasterCard), a community, people that help each others to make something, to create contents, and even to express themselves... a piece of hardware alone is nothing without useful contents... I see a symbiosis here...

Someone in the forum said (don't rememember who) that if you pay to enter in the OpenPandora Club, you obtain the Pandora as a gift. This used to be a joke, but I think that is in someway a true thing.

It's always good to see people that after entering the forum wants to create something, and even if they don't even know were to start, theres always someone that can help them to go to the right direction.

And just to spoil something, I never programmed in Linux, but I'm working on a little project, something like the appstore but for unsupported sites (so it can't become better than that app, but I needed something triky to start with)... the code is really in a ugly state for now, but it's already able to download all the useful informations it can get from every page of the Pandora Archive... it can even download all the contents in one run... but I need to make some rules to that, too much traffic...

I can see it now. A young child talking to his father:

"Daddy, I don't believe in Pandora anymore!"

(this was meant entirely as a joke, don't kick me down the queue for that :p )

Hi,

I ordered the day before you and am still waiting for an email from Craig.

Cheers.

I know the team can't give daily updates with numbers sent out.. but it would make me happier to get some numbers more fequently... been over 2 weeks since the last time I saw a number on how many had been produced/sent out.

36 have been sent out. That's how many Ed sent, although posting numbers like this can cause frustration and I don't like doing it, I prefer to wait until it's something impressive :)

I'm trying to keep the status page on the website up-to-date, so you could check there.

Production spit out a bit over 300 Pandoras so far (100 more are currently being assembled and tested), about 70 have gone to old preorders (more following) and about 180 to new preorders.

So I still got a few more to ship, and production is ongoing.

I also ordered on 2-10-08, and am also in the same position as you both in that I'm still awaiting "something", be it a email or Pandora! To be honest, I'm quite chilled out about it in that I've not really been paying much attention to the boards recently. I know that it will turn up eventually. It'll be a nice surprise when I either see an email and / or a small package arrive on my doorstep.Glad to see things are happening again though! Keep the faith!Although I'm more of a lurker than a poster, I just want to take the opportunity while I am posting here to thank ED & Craig for having the belief to keep this project going when it would have been so easy to give up. Maybe I should make a donation to the beer (or vodka) fund!!!!

Does that mean, I'm number nine in the queue? WOOOT

What do you mean by faster delivery upgrade? Is this different from the UPS shipping option (vs air mail) we selected when first ordering?

-Ordered in 2009

In a nutshell:-

It's not a shipping upgrade per se, it's a "queue" upgrade.

Supplier/manufacturer issues in the last couple of years left the project deeply out of pocket. So much that there were not funds to continue shipping the Pandoras that had been paid for in 08/09. Investors were engaged to help set up at the new manufacturer in Germany (which has been a successful move) and new orders were opened. A portion of the funds from new orders goes towards fulfilling old orders. For every two or three new orders taken (this figure is dynamic), an old order can be shipped. This arrangement keeps the cash flowing, and Pandoras shipping.

You can turn your old order into a "new" order, by paying the difference to "upgrade" your position in the queue. This means you get your Pandora faster, and also means you help other old orders get delivered faster too. You don't have to do any of this of course; you can sit tight and let other new orders/upgrades move things along. But it will be slower.

(Don't confuse this with the RAM upgrade from 256MB to 512MB. Every Pandora manufactured from now on (including yours) gets this for free, as it is the memory component that is available.)
