How's it going? (2012-03-05)

Did that change? This feature - power supply without battery - wasn't guaranteed and was not intended by design.
It's still not guaranteed: if it doesn't work then it doesn't work; but I think I remember a very low (5 or 10% maybe) estimate that couldn't perform, so odds are very much in favour of it working. And even if it doesn't work, there's certainly no harm in trying.

Hi ED!

Maybe it is a good idea to start a thread where everyone can shout out aloud that they have received their Pandora.

A "Shipping started and I got mine" thread so to say.

Regards

Arnold

but... why ? Is it a sort of hardware "bug" that permit to turn on a pandora without the battery ?

As I understand, it was probably intended to be a feature of the chip but it didn't receive enough testing to actually list it as an official feature. It probably occasionally fails for reasons TexasInstruments weren't able to fix, so rather than list it as a feature and have to replace 5-10% as broken, they simply removed it from the feature list and 90-95% can use this undocumented feature.

Watching my email - eagerly waiting the "pay for your pandora" email......

Off to bed soon though - hope it doesn't come after I go to sleep!

It came yesterday!

My Pandora arrived and I'm very happy. :D

Now there's some work to install, configure, etc. but the important things I have already tested: sound, graphics, movies, organizers, clock, wifi and some games. Today morning I went jogging with the Pandora listening to music.

The main improvement I noticed is the mechanic which holds the lid in a certain angle. It's much more stronger and stable than the classic Pandora, which - somethimes - dropped in a 180 degree angle by the weight of the display.

Thanks to you all of the Pandora team.

I wish the hinge WAS better, but it's just not worn out on your new unit yet...

The next set of mails has been sent, the next ones might come sometimes next week, probably.

If you have a PSP power supply around, an official one, it should work without the battery. Just not a good idea to add/remove the battery while its plugged into an outlet.
Don't have one. The Pandora is my first ever handheld!

I got a tracking number from UPS yesterday, but the status page was not updated since. Guess I'll just spend the rest of the day working then, bummer :p

Hi ED

Are all the remaining RMA's finished? My pandora needed a new board, but i haven't got any emails yet.

Still waiting for the battery and power unit. It took UPS a whole day to even start shipping it to the distribution-center next to me, and now they obviously decided to keep it there for the weekend. <_<

Well, at least I have a lot of time preparing my SD-cards and actually read how to use all the emulators and set things up correctly (Yoshi's pandora emulator fact sheets are a bit outdated, but incredibly usefull by the way! An absolute must-have! When he released them, I did not really see the point, but now that I actually had a good look at it I already know that it prevented my from a lot of frustration!!)

I can ship to Canada with US Postal Service if that's the preference from the Canucks.

I am in the queue from Craig's shop, but if he sends the units in bulk to you, I would gladly pay more to have USPS/Canada Post insured delivery, rather than UPS.
