This thread is about all games [lost gems / underrated gems] that were slipped under the radar when released, but still are very playable and can be played on OP.

BTW. Dont post games info without adding one or two screen, or you'll be omlette du fromage'd :)

Here we go [my part]:

Nuclear Dawn / Chase the express [PSX]

Whats this: A mix of Resident Evil + Syphon Filter, with good plot

Slap Happy Rhythm Busters [PSX]

Whats this:

The premise of Slap Happy Rhythm Busters is weird, to say the least. Slap Happy Rhythm Busters, aside from having this wacky title, on its core is a 2D fighting game with 3D manga-shaded characters. The end result is very good, and looks exactly like Viewtiful Joe. But there is more. The word "rhythm" in the title has to have a meaning, right? And it does have. At the heat of a fight, if your Special Bar is completely full, you can perform a Beat Combo. It is basically like if Beatmania for some crazy reason, were implemented in a fighting game. By performing a Beat Combo, you will have to rhythmically press in turn one of the four frontal buttons of the directional pad, according to the beat. And it is amazing to see this in a fighting game.

I always thought Crystalis needs more publicity [NES]. Nice little action RPG that goes fast with a good plot (for those days) and graphics and music that just pop. Came out late in the NES era, though. So play it!

^ Supposed to be the "better Zelda" on NES. In the same vein there are Neutopia I&II for PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16:

A honorable Game from the old DOS ages sureley was STUNT ISLAND. It was more than a Vector Flight Sim, it was an entire Movie Maker thingy. You were able to Flight, Film and Cut Stunts and produce entire short Movies with it. Your Play Field was a huge Island, complete with alot of Locations for Filming. You also were able to choose from alot of Airplanes, Cars, Props or entire Houses to build your own Set for Filming. Really a funny game and still unique in some way, an early Sandbox Game if you want. :)

P.S.: it's the only game I know where you can fly a Duck that bombs with eggs... :D

well on mame ex ive played an arcade game from my youth called the cliffhanger edward randy its an action game with an indiana jones feel to it.It has some very nice sprites and manic action.Ive never read a thing about this game in any gaming magazine or article over the years so its seems like a hidden gem to me.

^ Edward Randy is also a bit difficult to get hold of. I was looking to see if I could score the boards for a good price (if memory serves some regions' versions are a bit cut-down and missing various content, whilst one version has everything, or something like that), and it wasn't an easy task. I gave up. :p

AGH! That man's head has been squashed in a vice!

Anyway, here's one that most folks won't have heard of (I've simply grabbed the description I wrote for an earlier thread, here). Also, because I don't feel like taking some screenshots, you can have a video, instead, which shows the intro and some gameplay;

The Adventure of Little Ralph (PSX) - A nicely-polished platform game which some Western importers would have you believe is very rare and *VERY* expensive, when it actually, thankfully, is not - you can actually still buy brand new, sealed copies of this game from Japan for a fairly reasonable price. The Adventure of Little Ralph is best described as what would be spat out if you were to put a bunch of excellent platformers into a platformer-loving blender. You play as Ralph, a warrior who’s been transformed into a child by a squadron of demons who have descended on the world, and who has to set things right. The game has a lot of personality, and whilst it doesn't really bring any brand new ideas to the table, what it offers it does well. If you're a platformer fan, you're very likely to spot elements that will remind you, with fondness, of other great games - Ralph’s sword-swinging may remind you of Zero in Mega Man X4, the floating fruits which appear from nowhere will put you in mind of Adventure Island and Wonderboy, and the way you can bowl some enemies over with other enemies is somewhat reminiscent of some of the enemies in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island. Along with all this, it's packed with tons of cute and clever touches and attention-to-detail. It's well worth the price.

It's mostly unheard-of in the West because it was never released outside of Japan, in spite of everything but the intro (and I presume, also the ending) being in English. Also of note is that there's an option to change the soundtrack from what you can hear in the above video, to a classic chiptune-style version in the vein of the sound of the TurboGrafx-16, instead. The developers clearly knew who they were aiming their game at. :p
