Exophase http:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDPvRp57W6A (n900 run r8 or r9 pcsx-rearmed)

if and I know that's a big if.... but if you guys do decide to work on it maybe you can share your work with schtruck, maybe even work with him, help both ecosystems out. I know there's a language barrier there but he's a really nice guy, answers questions quick and politely, really sharp fellow too.

Licenses are probably a bigger barrier. He can't use our code if he doesn't GPL his stuff and we need him to GPL anything he'd let us use which could be problematic as well. Of course, I could be totally lacking in understanding of the current situation.
schtruck is already using GLES conversion of peops GL1 plugin and distributing it with FPSE, it's just not enabled by default (that's what the thread ANDROID linked is about). I don't think GPL allows this really, but at least he released his changes to this plugin, unlike some other Android/iOS "emulation devs".

resetting doesnmt work. You have to reload the iso! :)

Another feature request it seems!

Ah, thanks.

I don't like Hi-Res renderers for most games - it just looks weird having hires 3D with LoRes-Textures, and I rather play games in their original state, but for some games that are fully 3D, it might look neat :)

Out of curiosity, does the mobile FPSE play those games full speed with its software renderer, without frameskip? Or is there no software renderer?

it's weird, soft gpu works better on the xperia play... which basically can't handle the opengl plugin all that well. I see 60fps no frameskip using the default options; soft gpu, bios, etc I click on opengl plugin and it drops to 30fps basically

the asus transformer works better with the opengl plugin strangely... something to do with the frame limiter and large screen devices I think. but using opengl it looks very fluid, softgpu looks kinda rough even though it reports 60fps.... almost like it lagging or something... you can turn off frame limiter and get like 120fps and looks very fluid but is unplayabley fast.

but anyway... opengl plugin in general is more of drain on the system than the softgpu for fpse and android... he's been actively working on it though and I've seen it transform from unplayable proof of concept to prettty funtional in like 2 weeks... can't wait to see what else he does with it in future updates. I don't know if he's updateing the open source plug-in or his closed source program or both... it's not done yet but shows great potential

Well I had a little play with that updated testing PND above and stability is a little better for the GL plugin.

I have found a few of games that work pretty well with it.

Ridge Racer

Dead or Alive

Crash Team Racing

I tried a couple of Resident Evil games and the hi res looked nice, but it was like half speed... maybe some frameskip would help?

SoulBlade also falls in this catagory

Finally I tried Parasite Eve and again Hi res models look nice, but... the tiled backgrounds suffered texture corruption...

I'm not sure but perhaps the plugin needs an improved texture handler? I get the impression it's exhausting RAM available for textures...

I'm curious about hi-res 3d renderers for low-poly, low-resolution texture content. I've never liked it myself. I remember playing GLQuake and hating it, preferring the warm, fuzzyness of the software rendering.

Certainly for a fairly low-res device like the Pandora LCD (which is only a bit higher res) I prefer the software rendering of Exophase and Notaz's new plugin. It's luuuuuvverly!

For mostly shaded polygons in bright colours, like Super Mario 64 I think that hi-res rendering can look great, but generally I'm not a fan.

Final Fantasy VII (NTSC, bin) doesn't seem to work with this version. Tried HLE and BIOS, 600MHz with various GPU plugins but the results are all the same: the game will play until the main menu - the "continue" "new game" one. When I click new game, the screen goes black and stays that way.

Any help would be appreciated if this hasn't been asked and answered before.

Try ripping the image again, it runs fine for me and everyone else as far as I know.

Might I ask what settings you're using? MHz/plugins? I'm having some issues with it quitting to desktop randomly. Also, I wanted to ask if you're getting strange glitches like the pointer being black instead of white and wait times between scenes.

Gran turismo 2 works perfect and most games work full speed without frameskip.

How do i set to play games hi-res.

I'm playing emulator with these settings bios scph1001,gpu plugin builtin_gpu,spu plugin builtin_spu are these the best settings to maximise this emulator.

yes

I know I'm coming really late to this thread, but I just want to thank notaz again and also thank Exophase for his contribution to this as well! As always, I'm floored by the world-class quality of this emulator!

You have to select the gpuGLES plugin, unfortunately it renders pretty much any game unplayable (speed wise) but sweet jesus does it make them look absolutely beautiful (at least the ones iv'e tried) tried Wipeout 3 special edition recently with it & was astonished by how much better it looked, maybe just maybe.. one day

is it gpuGles.so plugin.

Doom freezes on loading screen and starfighter doesn't have any music in the game also tempest x struggles with music when you are playing the game and main screen.

Might be worth mentioning you have to save the config for that game after changing the GPU plugin, then restart the emulator. Actually, it works well for some games - GTA is a nice example (though I OC it a little, it runs lovely and looks fantastic). Tomb Raider also seemed playable to me. What a pity it makes "Driver 2" too slow, the GFX in that are nasty and rugged even with the default smoothing filter (which doesn't slow things down - except for some reason on 007 - racing, which I don't think should be the case).

When launching the .pnd under Slackware, i can play when logged as root, but when i launch as user, i got those errors :

input: in_name_to_id: no such device: evdev:gpio-keys

input: in_name_to_id: no such device: evdev:nub0

input: in_name_to_id: no such device: evdev:nub1

As root, the messages are OK.

I've just tried my old NTSC version of Road Rash on this and it runs super smooth (and a lot faster than I remember), I've over-clocked to 650 but that was just to try Colin McRae which stuttered a little in places.

This really is an amazing emulator.

rearmed wants read access to /dev/input/event*, default firmware has udev rule to make them readable.

Mmm though i put them rw-rw---- . Will check that. Thx.

I can use nubs, buttons and d-pad normally on the desktop.

---EDIT :

Yup, permissions were resetted. Will dig udev rulez, thx again.

BTW i though 3d driver were needed for your emulator. Is 3d entirely taken by the cpu ?
