Release Final Burn Alpha ported to Pandora (FAQ in first post)

I'm currently using a large ring-buffer for sound. I'll try reducing the size to reduce the lag on the sound.

This is great news, thanks a lot, as soon as the sound matches the gameplay this emulator will be 100% perfect.  :)

Ok 924 roms are in database.

These following games don't work:

3 count bout (keeps on restarting from neo geo screen)

Blaze on (shows black screen)

Fatal fury 1 (goes back to pandora screen)

Final star force (goes back to pandora screen)

Forgotten worlds (sound is not clear)

Hyper pacman (graphics are messed up)

Hyper street fighter II anniversary (graphics are messed up)

¿Where can I get the rest of the roms, which arcade machines are compatible with FBA?, I have all cps1, cps2 and neo geo roms, but there are still a lot missing,

Greetings.

ust tried a few games and this is great! Everything I've tried runs full speed with perfect sound and looks amazing on the Pandora. Gruso's skin is awesome and a huge improvement over the default capex skin. Definitely one of the best apps on the Pandora in my opinion. Thanks Dave18!

agreed - working great. and i've _never_ used my pandora that much for playing until FBA was there :)

Great update Dave18, you and crow_riot are doing great work.

After I play a game and exit back to Capex, I'm still getting the crash back to the desk top once I begin to scroll the game list again. Is anyone else having this problem? Seems to be some kind of buffer problem. Is my rom count to high? I don't know for sure.

Also is it possible to add a pause feature? Like Mame4all uses "P", which is right next to the buttons, so it works perfectly for a quick press when action is heavy.

Also is there any short cuts to scroll the games list yet? I have a full rom set, and scrolling down the list from the top everytime takes awhile.

I'm looking forward to all future updates, as many of these games are the best the arcade had to offer.

Chris

yeah i've thought about adding "P" too - i dont know i think dave and i should get a shared codebase (dave, github?) so that we can work on that. currently we both have our own versions lying around and dave is ahead from the work he has done (my day should have 48 hours... ;) ).

what i wanted to do is to add picklelauncher instead of capex and some tiny bits like the pause button and nub control and such. but for me having two separate versions both based on the gp2x/caanoo is kinda stupid.

I wouldn't mind Pickle launcher, as many of the options in Capex are currently non functional, or geared around GP2X usage, but I do personally like having preview pics for every game. Could that be added to Pickle Launcher? I also like Capex for the color code options(what roms are good, bad, or incomplete, ect.).

I'm having the same issue, and I echo both the congratulations and the requests.

I'm glad people are enjoying the port. I'm discovering a few great games during testing!

I've uploaded v1.0.0.5 to the repo, changes as follows:

Games that were reported bad:

3 Count Bout - works fine for me, must be a bad rom set

Blaze on - Uses a weird custom resolution of 320 x 232 - I've added it and now works

Fatal Fury 3 - again, works for me, must be a rom issue

Final Star Force - was crashing cz80. Moved it ro DrZ80 and fixed interface - works

Forgotten Worlds - Is sound bad on Cannoo and GP2X as well?

Hyper Pacman - Fixed 256 x 224 screen mode so now works

Hyper SF2 - Should work, I had to merge hsf2 and hsf2a rom sets though

I've made the rom loader output to the pnd out file so you should be able to see if any files within the zip failed to load.

Reduce the sound buffer size so lag should br reduced.

Capex allowed for up to 2048 roms. Do you have more than that Jumpman? I've increased it to 4096 just to see if it helps.

Pressing any letter on the keyboard in Capex will go to the first rom starting with that letter. If you want 0-9 just press 'A' and scroll up :)

Still having a problem with 1.0.0.5 after exiting a game. The game list becomes all red in the g's and it will eventually crash if you keep scrolling. Quiting FBA and restarting fixes the problem.

Yeah, the exact same problem for me. Played a game, and then when I exit, midway down the list goes to "red" status, and then if I keep going it carshes back to minimenu. Once you restart, it works fine for one game, and then it will do the same thing again. A bug for sure.

Just for the record Dave, I've got 1702 on my rom count, so I don't think that is the main problem, but if some users aren't having this problem and their count is lower, it may be a factor.

Thanks for the updates, your a machine like SteveM back in the MAME4All days. Great Work.

Even KoF2003 runs now--that is something I never would have expected. Amazing!

I'm having an issue that I assume is limited to just me, though--in vertical shmups button B doesn't work at all. Button C does, but not B. Any ideas?

Listing all sega games now but none seam to be supported and as jumpman says still quiting after a game.

Hey dave18, can you also take a look at metal slug 3? As for some reason this game always has problems where the other metalslug games do not. Even the NeoGeo emu has had problems in the past. For me it glitches once it boots up, and then when you exit the game, it kicks you out of FBA.

Also, I just updated all my preview pics, and the image is slightly to the left. I didn't notice if it was like this before or not. The left edge of the pic is right to the edge of the "X" in Capex, and you can see a small gap on the right next to the margine where the image should be on that side. So I'm not sure if this is an issue with my preview pics, or just a Capex bug.

Thanks for the update, this emulator keeps getting better and better, although sound is still laging, also sound is missing in Aerofighters 2, only works during the intro.

This is the first emulator that lets me play Prehistoric Isle 2 on Pandora, thanks again and keep up the good work. :)

I get sound through the first couple minutes of gameplay, but then it suddenly goes quiet.

I'll look into these issues tommorow. Just a thought, is the sound issues in aerofighter/sonicwings 2 an issue across all emulators, it rings a bell that the sound always drop out after a few seconds of gameplay.

crow_riot. svn, git etc is all new to me. My source is open to anyone who asks for it but I'd rather have a central hub. How do we get this off the ground?

Metal slug 3 was an encrypted rom so if this is an early build i wouldnt hold your breath.Basically the sprites are encrypted.

Thanks for the heads up. It's not a big deal if it ever runs properly, as the Neogeo emu runs it A-OK. I just thought I would report it for the fix list.

I also think I found the issue with my preview pics, as they are slightly bigger than the GP2X ones. So I'm gonna try and convert them to a small resolution, and that should fix the issue.

Good FBA preview pack here with correct resolution and format if anyone needs this.
