A plan taking form (2011-10-05)

On the topic of getting the parts back from texas...

I'm assuming you meant it as a joke. However, as has been mentioned, these kind of comments have caused problems in the past. Please don't do anything that might aggravate the already strained relationship with CircuitCo.

ED, GREAT choice for a prize. You are the thinker. There has been nothing but good news as of late. Great work! I didn't know you had a full time job on top of this project.

I was wondering if there could be a new branch on the forum to discuss the design of the new community site? I am sure many people would love to offer ideas and help. But I don't want to get to far off topic.

I was also thoroughly impressed that you had the opportunity to speak with everyone involved in the production. The company sounds serious. Could you tell us a little bit about your impressions of the team members?

Congrats and may fate and destiny help carry you.

We could always discuss that in Pandora General Talk. :) I'd be interested in that as well.

99%?!?! Isn't that literally saying that only like... 100 Pandoras have been manufactured?! That would be what you're saying if 10000 Pandoras need to be delivered, and I think that's more than the actual number....

Yea, I think its more like 25% not delivered right now?
99% is a reference to the current Occupy Wall St protests in the US. Not related to Pandora numbers, just a topical joke. ;)

I will charge at bad jokes that involve plain inaccuracy like a bull. The same response to plain inaccuracy that isn't a joke. My brother knows this very well. :p

I would have done the same thing.

My excuse is that, since there will be millions of Pandoras in the future, 99% of all Pandoras that will ever be, haven't been built yet.

Hi,

Great great news. I've discovered the Pandora shortly after I purchased a GP2X Wiz, and was very enthusiastic about it, being myself much involved in open-source development. I could not really afford to pay a preorder in full, so the new preorder campaign is a great thing for me, and I just preordered my Pandora.

What you guys are doing is great, keep up the good work!

Cheers,

Hi, long time preorderer (new word? lol) first time poster. I usually use the rss feed for updates but it's been a while since that was updated! Glad to see things are still developing, end of July update made me worry :)

Cheers,

Maq

ED, i have a little question following something you have said on GP32X, here.

Sorry if i missed something but i'll ask anyway to be sure; To be honest, i don't bellieve we'll get that much out of CC anytime soon, they've been holding to the last 1k boards for a while now and the parts for batch 2 are over there as well. So if these new pre-orders start rolling soon and well, what's the plan for the original pre-orders?

The plan has been setup to include the original preorders as well.

A certain amount of units will go to original preorders and just enough will be sold to new customers to be able to produce the next 1000 units.

Therefore, the amount of units going to original preorders per 1000 units depends on the amount of money we have.

If original preorders upgrade or if we get more investors than needed, the money we have fluid is higher and more original customers will get their units faster.

CC caused a big loss, but I'm trying all I can to get all units delivered as fast as possible, both preorders and new ones.

is there an estimate for when the first units will be shipped?

Yes, January / February should be fine.

However, it depends on the investors - if that's settled until end of October, we're in schedule :)

I've got 130,000 EUR 100% safe already (contracts being prepared), waiting for the confirmation from 50 more portential investors (and that would add up to about 600,000 EUR already).

This takes time, for sure. There's a lot of tax and law issues to be checked for every investor outside of the EU, so it's hard to tell how fast this will go.

If I got the confirmations from the investors until end of October and will have 150,000 EUR early November, we're in schedule.

If those test run boards are fine then they will be used immediately for making Pandora's, correct?

That's ok I think I'm in the next batch of five!

So end of December / early January would be the production run with the first 1000 boards.
I paid my Pandora in the beginning of July 2009.

I am getting told I will get my Pandora in January/February 2012.

Is this correct?

I think your actually getting told you should get it sometime after that time frame as not all 1000 boards of the new batch is going to batch 1 and 2 pre-orders, this is because Open Pandora GmbH needs to make more money from selling Pandora's to batch 3 pre-orders to make another cycle of 1000.

I paid in october 2008 and i think i have to wait at least two (more) month.

So perhaps you are correct :)

ED can I please request then that us batch 1 pre-order people who have yet to receive our Pandora's, email you with details of our order so you can place them in chronological order and then maybe you could work out in advance how they will slot into the new production allocation. If you can not fit this into your already busy schedule then I would be willing to enter the info into a spreadsheet and do it for you.
