voice recorder

This works, i tried it -> http://pandorawiki.org/Audio_system#Recording

Not the perfect tools. Audacity is very good, but quite overkill for just recording your voice. And i doubt that it supports to directy record in mp3 (though i didn't look for that option). It might work to install "lame" from opkg-repository and pipe arecord into lame.

mixer control utility i can't find it,where about it is.

It's in the default OS, on the desktop hit the Pandora button and go to Multimedia > Mixer. I forget where it is in minimenu, as I've departed from that interface for some time; maybe in the options (Select) or in the All category.

ok i got it to work, when i record my voice it comes to low from the speakers, how can the voice record louder.

Yes i got it to record in high volume,it's an awesome app,it's better than one with you get with windows vista inc in os,this app so many options.

How to save the file is it save project as?

does it automatically record as mp3 file?

in Effect tab at the top amplify doesn't save your settings, everytime you record it goes back to default settings, how can this be done?

After recording I believe you go to File > Export.

I don't know about the app remembering settings; that might require a developer's touch to enact

The internal mic is quite awesome, perfect for voice imo.

It let's you save. I just tried it. Your problem is probably that the export-window is too large and so you can not see the save-button. I had the same issue the first time I tried it, but now - after doing it again - the window is shown completely. No idea what made the change. But the first time I exported, I had to do this:

- recorded my voice

- go to file->export (the window will be too large to show everything)

- enter a filename and choose the path you want to save to

- move the window either by holding the left-shoulder-button and using the touchscreen (click and drag) or by doing the following key-sequence: press "fn", then press and hold "alt", press "7" and release "alt", then move the window with dpad. In the lower right corner is the save-button and the button to choose the format (choose e.g. "mp3").

By default it will save to your appdata-folder of audacity. And as already said, I only had to do the resizing ones.

Yes it worked.

The other problem i'm getting is when you go to effect tab at top right i wwant to set it to amplify but everytime i'm making new file it goes back to default.

That's the way audacity works. If you select "amplify" (or any other effect), then you do not set audacity to a real-time amplify-mode where it amplifies all data that is being played. You process the selected range of your waveform(s) in the moment you press "ok" and by this permanently change the audiodata one time. Try to select only a small part of a waveform and do the amplify-effect. You will see what I mean.

If you permanently want to increase the the volume of your recorded voice, then go to xfce-startmenu->Multimedia->Mixer and turn "Input Boost" higher. If you do not see "Input Boost", then go to "Select Controls" and check the corresponding line.

Yes that's perfect now, when you input the boost and input the amplify the sound gets messed up,is the any way around it.

i cant getty any level at all. i've loaded audacity up and i keep getting an error:

'error while opening sound device. please check the input settings and the sample rate'

the mic volume is also grayed out and when i select 'start monitoring' i dont get anything. maybee i have a faulty pandora?

so i was futzing around with the audacity prefs, trying to figure out how to make the input work (before i came across this thread), and nothing seemed to work. then i noticed that nothing on the whole system was making any sound. not sure what i did, but vlc gives me an error "potential alsa version problem: vlc failed to initialize your sound output device (if any). please update alsa-lib to version [blah blah blah] or higher to try to fix this issue."

aaaany help on this? i like using my panda as a PMP : / i was going to make this its own thread but figured i might post in here since there seem to be some vaguely-knowledgable folks in here.
