TV-Out

SONY: Beamer is a projector... Sorry, in german we say beamer.

It's the same thing as we say Handy to a mobilephone in germany...

Thanks for the lesson. I'll remember that when I go to Germany and speed off in my beamer (a BMW car, whilst talking on my mobile phone (handy)) right after purchasing a projector (beamer).

And don't forget your be em double-u turns into bay-em-vay as soon as it's drives onto German highway (Autobahn).

The video by ED was made before Notaz released his new sdl. It uses the sgx to scale, so it could be the reason.

You don't really need any schematic, as the ony additional component is the 470pF capacitor in the C-line. The rest you can see pretty good on my photos. For the pinout have a look at the wiki.

The pin out schematic doesn't show what YOU connected to the board vs the EXT connector.

If you could show the board pin number wich is quite visible vs the EXT pin connector in this diagram. I can produce a easy to follow schematic based on what you have done. I am very intrigued by this.

Just by looking at his board It's hard to see how it's exactly wired...

but here is quick and dirty diagram I threw together with Dia.

I got that part easy enough. I appears he has sound wired as well. I'm trying to determine if he is using both Line Out R and Line Out L. Wich would make a MONO since it's a single connector. I'm planning to create a box that can be used to allow audio in, audio out, video out, make additional ports, since the UART ports are there, better not waste them, RS232 port and FTDI - VDRIVE2 - USB Flash-UART FIFO SPI I/F Module. i guess the only thing I would need help with because i know nothing about it is the Kernal.

I does look like he's only using one audio channel from that picture.. I just built a simple svideo and stereo audio out cable.. But my next project is to build something similar but add an RS232 port and make use of the Audio line in as well.. I'm hoping for it to be as small as I can. My end goal would be something that just looked like a regular cable without a need for a project box.

Now I just need free time, which is rare for me.

Me too on the time. I may have to wait until FEB when i go on Mid-tour Leave. I plan to use a HDD enclosure so it is portable, I started a schematic for it now that I have a better gist of what he did....I think...lol.

You don't actually need to wire Y and C together to form composite. The OMAP is capable of outputting a composite signal on just Y. It is a necessary evil for the time being if all you have is a composite input because the TV out code isn't built to switch it between composite and s-video, but as soon as it is you will get a better signal without the capacitor bridge.

Since I built an svideo cable I just use one of these suckers to do the conversion.. pre-built no worries.. plus i got about 10 of them since they seem to come with every video card I bought that had TV out..

Could test it on a Full HD beamer of my boss. I'll be there next week.
Sweet as, mate. Please keep us updated.

By the way, "Beamer" is not a BMW, is it?

*snickers* I have to admit, my first thought was the same... spent a little while trying to imagine where you would fit a 50" screen without making the interior of the car somewhat cramped... ;-)
