Cancelled

Was not the assumption that the Premium Pandoras used to hire some more staff members to do assembly? If the bump to a Premium Pandora is $170, at $10 an hour that's another 17 hours of someone to help debug problems with boards, test, flash, unpack, etc. So instead of EvilDragon or Craig doing some of the tedious tasks, they can do more important things, like Hotfix 6, planning for Batch 2, or even sleep.

Like they've said before, the Premium Pandora purchases really helped the project, not slowed it down.

I'd like to see some pictures of said staff at work then. The only thing I see is ED working until 05:00 over the webcam. Also it would be silly to hire them as we're probably still waiting on boards.

The whole first batchers getting their Pandora faster becuase of the premium Pandoras has been a logic fallacy from the beginning. It simply doesn't make any sense at all as long as you still have bottlenecks in your production.

But I'm ok with it as the way I see it, and have seen from the first moment there was mention of premium Pandoras (check my posts from around that time if you wish to be sure) it's was purely a way to survive financially.

To be fair by now everyone that can't get over it should have cancelled and moved on in life. I decided to suck it up and stick around and no sour grapes from me. No use crying over spilt milk. Just please realise how it went down and put the whole speeding up thing out of your head. Not even Craigix and ED are mentioning that anymore, they've said a number of times lately that without the money of the premiums the project would've been history.

I am worried though about the batch 1 order fullfilment by the looks of it coming to a screeching halt. Are they still all going to be sent before the end of June as said not too long ago by Craigix? How many boards have arrived from CC lately? Are there enough boards to finish batch1 even or have the premiums ate them all up (something I've been egotistically hoping would be more of a batch 2 problem)

All the enthousiasm from people actually getting theirs makes the wait bearable (and unbearable at the same time :p ) tough.

I've been wondering the status of Batch 1 completion as well. Haven't heard anything about its completion status or if it is still on target for the said June completion.

You're also correct about the enthusiasm from actually getting one. The Pandora is WELL worth everything invested into it, be it upgrading to Premium to get it earlier or continuing to wait it out for yours to arrive.

Makes me kinda sad when people post on here saying they're canceling but it is their choice.

If all this is true then the premiums should stop now!

New orders simply join the end of the queue.

Let's see how many order at $499 just to join the queue.

I cancelled a while back when I realised that my order was going to be made up of boards that needed to be fixed (and there are quite a few of them). I know from experience how long fault finding takes, and it is no surprise to me that as we approach July, I still would not have received my Pandora.....

By all means, if existing pre-orders want to "upgrade" then I don't have a problem with them moving up the queue as a reward. The overall queue size doesn't change and the batches will finish normally. I supported this idea from the beginning myself (in the interests of speeding up production).

But I don't think its fair for new customers to take Pandoras earmarked for pre-orders. I'm concerned that first-batchers are being pushed back into the second batch, and second-batchers are being pushed back into the realm of non-existence. If all the parts for batch two have been ordered and paid for I wouldn't be so worried, but as it is I'm afraid that Pandoras are being taken out of our hands and there is no more coming down the pipe.

Why should somebody who just heard about OP from Ashens review get better treatment and potentially rob me of my investment? Because they are willing to pay retail?

It's amazing to me how many times the same damned argument pops up about the premiums. The definition of insanity is repeating the same action and expecting different results.

If I were to be mad at anyone, it would be CircuitCo for CONTINUOUSLY failing to deliver on their promises. I know the usual excuses that are made for them. I don't find those acceptable.

The project would be doing fine if OPT had a way to get the 500 boards a week that were promised. They could have hired a large assembly team from the Premium money and we wouldn't see this garbage anymore.

Hang on everyone. I feel for you. Believe what everyone says: despite the wretched wait, once you get your Pandora it was totally worth it.

I'm certain of one thing: nobody wants the production to be finished more than ED and Craig. I would imagine that the stress has made them old prematurely.

Two day reminder sent after no response :(

They're always swamped with emails. It's taken a week to get a reply before, no biggie.

Quite true. I was playing Frogatto and Friends last night, and it was beautiful. Perfect colors on the screen, beautiful sound -- easily worth everything.

This project was a "MIRACLE", and I mean that in every possible way.

The Pandora should have gone down in flames long ago, but despite many set backs, and who knows how much money, this unique device carries on!

This "MIRACLE" has happened due to 4 crazy bastards who wouldn't give up and throw in the towel, and it also has happened due to many end users who also gave there all and wouldn't give up(and have waited longer than any other consumers in world history).

The premium units have kept this boat afloat, and for better or worse, they where a needed evil. It sucks so much, that so many who have stuck with this project still have not received there unit, and that many others who could afford the extra funds, or those who just joined the party now have units, and others don't. Sadly, this is currently the way it is.

So if anyone out there is ready to move on, or needs the money, by all means cancel. It's OK! For everyone else, just hang in there and enjoy the wild Pandora ride. As it is a wonderful device, that I proudly display and use along side my DSXL, 3DS, PSP, and ipod Touch.

Chris

I wish that people would stop saying if you are unhappy then cancel.

I think that anyone who preordered and is still waiting is intelligent enough to know this - they are also entitled to have a whinge and a moan - that is what forums are for.

Without these forums then most would have cancelled, they keep us going!

I will do whatever it takes to allow this to continue and for everyone to get their Pandora.

If they are all delivered and we come out even I'll be happy, but it's true, CC are the ones who are really letting us down big style, and I hate it.

CC were supposed to buy new equipment, and this was the main reason they have to reach the rate of 500 boards a week.

so how do they explain the difference with the actual rate? did you asked them?

How much would it cost to get production set up with another company?

It's not just a question of money.

The Pandora boards are quite complicated to make and most companies wont make them unless the order a very high amount of units all at once. 4000 at a time just isn't worth the hassle for them :(

One could say the same thing about the people who repeatedly say "just be patient" in the face of genuine frustration.

But of course that isn't actually the definition of insanity at all. If you want to see some real insanity, just try preventing people from voicing their concerns.

I'm with andmaz on this one - if it were not for the chance to blow off some steam here most would have cancelled by now.

I'm sorry you find it so tiresome but you're just going to have to suck it up for the good of the community.

Well, I just logged into OpenPandora boards after some time, expecting to see some news (virtually almost anything) but instead I find reports of October 1 people who still have not received their units. Is not that I'm impatient, but the lack of progress... I'm about to cancel, too. :(
