A summary of the last few weeks (2011-05-26)

Tell me, how do we know you haven't finished all the 1st batch Pandoras already and are patiently taking advantage of the ever-increasing frustration of the pre-orderers who funded this project to drive them to pay the ransom in form of "Premium" Pandora? Why not? Another lie wouldn't weigh in the big scheme of things and general lack of transparency.

and general lack of transparency.

i truly hope you're having a laugh, go find any company that is more transparent in the way things work and happen

Indeed... I would say that OPL are perhaps much more transparent than most other companies... A lot of the information they are effectively releasing to the public would be considered highly confidential by most companies.

The number of preorders being shipped has to be very low that's a fact.

I believe the current accepted estimate is 100-150 a week, but every week. But then, I can't read German and I'm not here that much.
Craig still hasn't finished shipping the October 2 orders. There were around 100-150 orders that day, and it's been four weeks.

and general lack of transparency.

They're very open about what most companies are closed about, but rarely (or never) report what most companies make public. Nintendo for instance reports console/handheld sales, consolidated balance and expense sheets quarterly. But then Nintendo doesn't tell us what they're working on (until E3, if they feel like it), they don't tell us what challenges they're facing, and they're not really telling us what they are telling us, they're mostly telling their stock holders.

(Also Nintendo doesn't have supply chain problems because they can throw money at their problems.)

If it were a case of like, "when it's done you'll get your shipping notice" I would have cancelled long ago. The amount that OP has been open is I'm sure the only reason most of us are still here. But I have been upset at the content of the information lately, going from numbers getting released every few months to "it eats too much time to figure numbers out" and I have no clue what to expect anymore.

All I have is my queue number which apparently doesn't mean anything, as no one seems to be posting they got their unit and my queue number was XXXX, nor does OP say which queue range they are shipping. It leaves me to suspect that production has slowed- not anything to an extreme where they need to break bad news to us, but to a point of embarrassment that they don't wish to publish their (lack of) progress.

If it makes a difference to anyone, I'm agreeing with Neko that I haven't seen anyone post they've received a non-premium unit ordered after Oct 2, 2008. I happen to be an Oct 5, 2008 order.

Just to give you a little hope, I ordered mine on Oct 4 2008 and received the little beauty on the 25th of May 2011, its well worth the wait! Hang on in there it will come eventually :)

Did you order from Craig or ED? And if from Craig, any chance you had a queue number?

I orderd Oct 1, 2008 from Craig and reorderd from Ed.

I am still waiting.

Psychotic mode

And if all of this was just an immense joke? And if E.D and Craig were become billionaire and just by an isolate isle were a real pandora box is hidden... No don't free all that monsters... Too late... Volcano, earthquake... And if all of this were not a coincidence, but just a consequence? And if I stopped to drink to much coffee would it prevents me to write some just shitting sentences?

... Still waiting... At least I have my 3DS, and the PSP Vita will arrive at the end of the year... Without keyboard and open interface and so on... Lucky you ^^

Seriously... Yeah... Seriously, It would be nice if the Pandora arrive before to have the age to be in my portable console collection...

Need help? Send me the piece, I will take the necessary time to build, test the Pandora and participate actively to this big adventure which unfortunately shambles.

Piece of Pandora for Peace.

I've been thinking and it seems that there are a few people around here who have a lot of time on their hands. How about you, if you are willing, volunteer to be the "PR" guy, that is, collect fragmented reports from different devs and aggregate it together for the rest of us? I'm sure each dev knows what he/she is individually doing, but seeing the big picture takes effort they aren't willing to work--plus they get a ton of shit from the users around (like above). So why not get someone who isn't a dev, thus has more free-time, to do the reporting for them?

I've considered volunteering myself, but I'm busy with other projects too.

I ordered from Craig, my queue no was a bit of a bone of contention. I was originally told 1350-1450, then asked again and some point and was told 1500 - 1600?? I queried this and was told, oops sorry it should have been 1350-1450.

Then in May I emailed again asking about potential delivery dates and was told "It seems I got your queue position incorrect twice!! It should have been 1500 - 1600 but as this is my error I will make sure your order is despatched within the next 7 days. Sorry :( "

In general they are, except when they're not. For the most part I understand why, but it's hard for me to know where they are in the que, when they might be on October 2nd, or 3rd, or possibly fourth. And some people haven't yet received their orders when they ordered on the 2nd.

For the sake of argument let's presume your supposition is true, that:
-CircuitCo has completed the production and troubleshooting of all Batch 1 boards including those that cannot be fixed to an acceptable condition

-OPL has finished production of Batch 1 on their end despite Craig indicating they've had a small flood of frivolous RMAs that could have easily been fixed by end user

& Most importantly that:

-They're a bunch of evil lying money grubbers who setup this evil, and nonsensical, plan of offering the option to jump que for a little more to help keep things solvent after all the unforeseen problems with their various vendor just so they could trick everyone into paying the higher rate... Despite orders going out and that such a thing would be rather suicidal given the large liability associated with Batch 2.

What exactly are you hoping to accomplish with this outburst? Inciting some manner of riot against OPL? A hostile atmosphere so as to discourage updates, and through a serious of unlikely events leave you in control of the world?

Ooh ooh ooh.... if option 3 (lying evil conspiracy for profit) comes with a free tin foil hat, please count me in

I don't know why they don't just make a simple post of how many units they send out every week and how many in total they have sent. It is worrying that they seem to be unable to do this.

Get real. This is additional bookkeeping work that is not necessary. Would you like them to send out 100-150 Pandoras per week but not getting exact numbers every week, or have them send out 70-100 Pandoras with exact numbers? I prefer the first one.

Good, Fast, Cheap. Choose any two.

It's a 2 minute job!

......and would not have to be exact just close as possible that's all!

2 minute job? I don't think so. We once got a detailed status about boards being produced, being replaced, repaired etc. as well as a number of pandoras that were already produced and/or shipped (or was it orders?) - and I guess this took a day or more to figure out. Anyway, either you want exact numbers - then someone needs to check orders vs. Pandoras, Pandoras sent out, Pandoras received for repair etc. and merge the numbers from the different people sending pandoras out. This is a time consuming task. If you don't believe it, do something like that yourself - take also into account that you're also earning a living and have a real life beside this.

Regarding possible numbers, it was said that about 100+ are send out every week and that the last 1000 of first batch are currently being worked on. That gives us about two months left for batch one - if nothing bad happens in between.

Imho that _IS_ as close as possible - and I might receive my second pandora within the next 8 weeks ;-)
