Well it's been a long time in the making, but I have just completed the main sections of the new Compatibility List site called Checklist. The site is way more complex than the old GP32 Compatibility list site, which will be closing down very soon.

Here's the URL for the new site:
Checklist

So what can you do in the new site:

Multiple hardware support
GP32, PC, PSP etc.

Multiple systems within each hardware
Such as GP32 will have DrMD, Mame GP32 etc.

System classes implemented
Emulators of the same class share the same game list. In other words, the list for spectrum games is one single list. All spectrum emulators pull data from that list/class.

Basic game reviews
Games can be reviewed and rated, a bit like the old system but much more flexible

The site is now more configurable
Certain users have extra statuses, allowing them to update information such as games, emulators version numbers etc.

It's a bit more flashy
One or two little animations here and there. Site entry has a swish flash animation that can be turned off from the main site banner.

New Logon System
I have developed a new logon system for BerZerK, the site now uses that!

The main screen tree list
a kind of tree list thingy to allow you to select the emulators/systems etc.

Forum feedback
I have created a small forum specifically for feedback and ideas, This is not for general chat or anything, just for help and input ideas.

I'm sure there's more, but it escapes me now.

Bye for now,
Clare.

EDIT:

Actually I am rather proud of checklist, I have put a lot of work into it. It's taken me months to create it and I hope that the lists will be updated as much as the old sites.
I have imported lots of the old statuses for DrMD for the GP32, but the GP2X never really had statuses set, so please, go crazy and update the statuses.

The site obviously relies on you the users of such emulators. Help us all to information. If you have tested a game, then please log in and set its status.

I made my first 3 updates in your list Fluffy !
I'll send more status and review when I'll play a game.

Very usefull online tool !
Thanks again for creating this !

Ps: I saw the only post on your forum wich said that the compatibility should be listed by system rather than emulator.
This will be a good idea as you'll have to add Pc-engine Cd-roms/isos (for exemple) in another menu.
Perhaps you should add a submenu ?

EDIT : It would be nice if reviews could be a littlle more longer, perhaps more lines (I wrote some 6 lines reviews and they were cutted :( )

i've made a few updates to the site. Great job :)

One thing that bothers me though, what about the fact that there are lots of different rom versions of the same game? Hacked and otherwise. I'm guessing that not all roms of the same game will work or produce the same results.

Just state whether the working version you have is a [!] or a or whatever.

juste look in the wiki to have a starting list ;) in the french section of gngeo i have tested all the roms ;)

Great site WarmFluffyUK, Will be adding some info to the site in a while.

WarmFluffyUK for guru status ?, For all the work she has done on the GP32 and 2x compatibility lists.

Okay, I've updated the 0-9 and A sections for DrMDx. The framerate results are using frameskip 0 and 22khz sound.

Can whoever is interested check that you're happy with the format before I continue? Thanks.

One thing I've noticed is that previous comments from OTHER USERS are overwritten!! I was expecting my comment to follow from the previous user's comment. Can you fix this Clare?

The status comments are basically a set in stone idea, i.e. does this game work or not, if so, the comment may reflect an anomaly etc. I don't think it should be a collection of all comments made on the game, rather the definitive comment.

Or are you referring to the way the comments section erases the old comment when you choose another status?

Please let me know. By the way, thanks for your input on the site, I noticed that you and virusx have been setting a lot of game statuses. I think Virusx has even reviewed one or two..
On the point of reviews, I had a bug which chopped off the end of a review, sorry about that but it has now been sorted.

WarmFluffyUK, that's a great site :)

Could you add a Fenix section under GP2X to know what games are working fine?

Thanks
Sorry about taking so long, I have added Fenix to the GP2X, But I haven't populated it with anything yet. Can you let me have some more info:

[1] The latest version number of Fenix (if applicable)

[2] The list you would like to populate it with, and is this list the same as for the GP32? Is Fenix cross platform?

TTFN,
Clare.

Hi,

1 - The latest GP2X's Fenix version is Beta4.

2 - Yes, Fenix is cross plattform so you can populate it with the same games as for the GP32. By the way, is there any way to everybody could add new games?

Thanks

There's is a way for people to add games, but not everyone, Are you a member of the site already, if so, I can promote you to SuperUser so that you can add and edit games yourself. If you're already a user, let me know the User ID you signed up with. If you haven't signed up yet, then you will be required to do that before you can even set statuses etc. Don't forget to let me know what user ID you signed up with. Please note that I track game edits and additions, for obvious reasons really.

I have updated Fenix's version to Beta4,

So why do you need to be a member to do anything? Because of the complexity of the site, I needed a way to track what people are doing. I can promote users to certain statuses in order to allow them to add and edit games. Furthermore, I can promote selected SuperUser's to Admin status which allows them to add and edit Classes and Emulators, and delete Games. Admin status will obviously be kept to a bare minimum.

TTFN,
Clare.

Edit: Do you know where I can get a list of Fenix items? I can mass populate the list if you like!

It's the users being able to replace other users' comments I'm not keen on - I don't fancy filling out an entire compatibility list only for someone to overwrite parts of it :(

It'd be fine if people could add their own comments afterwards, as long as they used their common sense and didn't go overboard with multiple unnecessary comments.

Hi,

I've just registered :)

My username is Puck2099, I will be grateful if you promote me in order to include new Fenix games, it will help me a lot to know what games are not working well and try to fix the bugs in next Fenix version.

I don't know where to find a list of Fenix games, I think in file archive of GP32x they are not shorted as Fenix games but as general games :(

My idea is try one by one...

Regards

Okeydokey Done, Add away. Oh and I have added a post to the Fenix forum asking for a list if there is one, but I get the feeling you're going to be the Checklist Fenix guy :) .

But I think that is the point, it's a status comment, not a general game comment, for general comments you can use the review section, these are persistent comments. The Status comments are meant to be brief and straight to the point reflecting the games status, at any one time the game or item can only really have one status. i.e. if a new Emu version is released, and a previously non working game is now working, the previous status comment no longer applies, as you said, it's really up to the community using their loaf here. It seemed to work really well on the old lists, and I don't see why this shouldn't work well on Checklist. People generally only change something if the status has changed or there is a real problem, after all, it's not in the communities interest to go crazy on it. Also, additional comments would make the main list longer as each game entry could expand to accommodate the comments.

Please don't think I am being defeatist, and I can see where you're coming from here. After all your hard work to have someone change bits might be a little annoying, but that's the nature of a compatibility list. Versions change and so should said version comments to reflect the change. People are quite able to add to your comments, but if the status changes, this wipes the original comment. I have an idea though, I could leave the comment there but add a clear comment option to clear the input box if the present comment doesn't apply, would that be okay?

I'm going to implement this option anyway, I should have it done in about 5 to 10 mins :) .

TTFN,
Clare.

Edit: okay done, changing a status no longer clears the entry, and the Clear button can be used to wipe it if necessary.
