Genemu

i was just thinking about frameskip myself, what is the default fs set to in this, just testing sonic1 with the 156 clocked version and its slow but its very smooth like theres no skipping at all, fs of 2 would probably give very good results if that is the case

Just so that everyone knows...I have updated the overclocked versions of GenEmu, SnesEmu and SNES9xGP so that they display the speed which they run at in freelauncher

Also I have made it so both SNES emulators read the ROMs in GP:\SNES

The files can be found at GP32 World

Let me know if there are any problems

Hey thanks Crazeeplaya.

Both Snes emus reading from the same dir is a real bonus :D

Any yes I agree, some games would look to work better with frameskip, or maybe the speed on some games is just slow??? ie 2 Crude Dudes runs slow, but other games much the same sort dont.

Also is everbody having the same issues with compatability??? I have been putting results on the compatability page, but many just hang on the black screen or reboot the GP32, but I am unsure if its just the version of the ROM I have??? I thing I am only getting maybe 40% of my ROMS working, but I am still have alot of fun

Also Also, the ROM util that changes .BIN to .SMD, I find I have to close it after each use else if always fails on the next ROM, is that just me????

O, and I seem to be lucky, I can run all my emu's at 166mhz, and no sign of any lockups, ya

Rock On

I have the same problem, it must be a bug in the program

yes i noticed that the format changer made that mistake as well, but who cares, it works (just an extra step)

crazee, you may have been criticized for being a bit overenthusiastic at times in promotion of your site + helping people out but I think it's a great thing (always mirroring, posting OC'd versions of emu's + etc) and I really appreciate it. Thanks for making things easier!

ps. please if anyone can get these roms to work, let me know - no versions I have tried will run.

thunderforce 2,3,4
gaiares
musha

+herzog zwei (my favorite game of all time!!!)

haven't really seen much of a reason to use the OC version, from the games i've compaired there was like a 2fps increase, which does nothing for the game speed at all, i've gone back to using the 133 version for now save batteries while testing what works

I found that the speed increase on the 166Mhz Genemu is massive. It now plays ghouls n ghosts at full speed.

It may still be reporting the same (or around the same) FPS, but there is a good chance that it uses the clock speed (i.e. cycles per second) as a basis for calculating this, meaning that it would be calculating around the same amount at all clock speeds. Remember, the author wrote it to calculate based on teh clock speed HE set. I defy anyone to tell me that the 166Mhz version is not a hell of a lot faster!!!

Ta

a new version of genemu would interest me as most of the games dont work and the ones that do run at snails pace, and sound is always a good thing

yea the jump on the 166 is noteworthy i guess, i'd been using the 156 version since im one of the people who can only run 166 for a limited amount of time

edit: after some checking i just noticed it only seems to be this emu that i can't run 166 for long, this was the first thing i really tried at 166 so when it crashed i thought it was the problem i'd read about but maybe its not, need some more 166 programs to test

Yeah, I can normally run 156 but I can't with this one so I'm having to use boring old 133... :(

I played it at 156 fine, no freezing, but when I set it to 166, it froze after about 15 seconds. I was surprised that the emu wasn't full speed at 156. I thought it was already almost full speed at the normal speed.

A lot of games run almost full speed with 133, I thought they'd be full speed at 156 too.

Is there any frame skip though? If not then frameskip 1 would be great, but I have noticed characters disappearing when they should be flashing...

Hahaha, snails pace? Not only is it the first release, but it just came out. I think its fast for the first release.
