That's like a Ferrari: that's great cars, but where is the point to buy one if you have to send it for fixing issues every month...
I'd rather have a Ferrari 1/10 of a time, than a bicycle all of the time :D
But I'd obviously rather have a Ferrari all of the time !

Great progress, I'll have to see if I can't pick up some disks cheap. Never had a PS you see.

On my side, still trying to make the Tomb Raider series to run with no luck so far, after having tested all the ISO rip tools availables :( Might be the compression?...

Anyway, please Zodttd, sorry to bother you about that: I understand that speed is important, but could you make sure that the compatibility is good enough? I mean, where is the point to spend time incresing speed when compatibility is not there...I don't want to be rude, but half of the PSX games don't work.

For instance, Tom Raider 1 intro was working fine on 034f, and now: nothing coming up after the intro..

He said this is an experimental version and there most likely will be bugs and the timings could be off which would lower compatibility. Just be patient.

Or do like I do, repeatedly press F5 till a version 0.36 thread shows up. ;)

Anybody try Xenogears yet? I would but I'm too lazy to rip mine and I never bothered to look what I need to do. If no one has I may just try it myself.

I tried MMX6 and it runs about 11fps with no sound.

cool :D but i wonder why these 2d games run slower than some 3d ones o_O i do notice a speed change in X5 though definitly a bit faster. but i think it is really the movies thatr are running really fast in those games. im getting around 30fps in some of the scenes in the game :D

Is that 30fps real?!
Or is it 30fps but looks like 10fps. ;)

I've been meaning to ask this for a while now...

How do you get the frame rate to stay permanently on display? It only displays for a couple of seconds when I press the volume buttons then dissapears.

hmm i fear i may have not made myself very clear :( , when i said scenes i meant the opening movies and such. gameplay is still slow but it is getting closer and closer to playable

I've made some progress on getting hardware scaling working using the minimal library. I used the SDL HW Accelerated version and it didn't work well with my need to color convert from BGR15->RGB16 and RGB24->RGB16.

What I'm doing now is using the technique to get 2 framebuffers 1024x768 large, then resize the framebuffers on the fly to the psx resolution. From there I can do very quick blits, then use hardware scaling. Only issue right now is getting the hardware scale ratio correct with different framebuffer pitchs. :p

So soon no more clipping, and nice hardware scaling with little speed decrease, if any.

I'll get those timings right tommorow...

In fact I think that the main problem is the color buffer format, gp2x is rgb16, and internal emulator format is rgb1|15, so we still need the color conversion, but scalling could be done for free. May be a mix of antipasta's no scaling color conversion and hw scalling is th way to go.

On the other hand if the texture cache works may be we could change the the internal frame buffer representation, and only use the color converrsion we gpu_ReadMem is called... We'll look onto that in a few weeks.

Hi,

Re2 seems a little bit faster, but we still have to start the game blinded as we don't see the menu.
Coolboarder 3 in a certain way seems to faster but now suffer of a bug which make it difficil to know if it's better or not: (this bug was not existing in 0.34f)
when we start to down the hill we move forward then few steps backward then forward then few step backward... just like a very little rewind, so it make the game choppy.

bye

Herc.

hange the the internal frame buffer representation.....mmm yes *pretends to know what's being talk about*

Didn't read through the whole thread, but: The 2nd cpu is STILL not used, right? Then there's hope. If it is used... well... pray. :p

The second cpu isn't a great deal of use!

Of course it is. You just need to know what to do with it.
