I just thought i'd say how much i love this emulator it's truly excellent and one of the main reasons i can't put my 2X down. :D I will be donating to pepone very soon for this one, we all owe him our cashitos!!!

For sure. I've already donated, but I think pepone deserves it because this is pretty much the main reason I bought a GP2X. I was confident the GP2X could achieve full speed MVS emulation eventually, but I never thought we'd get it so early in the console's lifespan. And thanks to pepone, we're even playing all those larger games we figured would be out of reach.

Now all i need to do is find a replacement for thrash rally i completed it on the bus today which is a shame. :(

Tried Overtop? It's quite a fun little racing game in a similar style to Thrash Rally. Not sure if it works on Gngeo though...

Pepone: I just realized, that there was a MAME release today. One of the big changes is the utilizing of 16MB RAM from the upper memory block. Could you take a look at it and try to implement this too? It would be awsome, 'cause we could play every NeoGeo game with sound turned on. :)

What is the lack of RAM currently limiting? I thought it was just the ROM size and that's why we need to dump the gfx.

Gngeo already use the 16M upper memory for sound data. Since the 0.6.10 version, gngeo also play every NeoGeo games with sound turned on (Yes, even garou :) )

How did you get garou working? Whenever I try to dump the gfx with dumpgfx.exe I get "Couldn't load garou.zip" and whenever I try to dump the gfx of garou.zip with GNGeo it goes back to the menu.

Does anyone have a full ROMRC file with all of the correct parameters for ALL ROMs yet including ones like Pulstar? That would be cool if someone had a complete one and posted here.

Thanks.

You need the prototype version (garoup)

Ah, because that happens a lot with some of my other roms, namely Metal Slug 4 (mslug4.zip).

Query - what does this emulator do better/worse at running NeoGeo games than Mame 1.9 for the GP2x (this runs NeoGeo too)? Just wondering as I cant get Gngeo to run (probably have to read the instructions better!).

it runs the neogeo roms, but gngeo runs them much much faster. it's definitely worth getting it to work - could you describe your problem?

So if I can run NG roms on Mame, then I have all the files I need to to run them using GNGeo? I don't have to hunt down some manner of ROM/BIOS file?

no...for running gngeo you need a neo geo bios unzipped to the roms-folder. it´s usually called "neogeo.zip" and contains the following files:

000-lo.lo
asia-s3.rom
sfix.sfx
sm1.sm1
sp-e.sp1
sp-j2.rom
sp-s.sp1
sp-s2.sp1
usa_2slt.bin
vs-bios.rom

or you can use the unibios (google), which should be renamed to "aes-bios.bin"

for more info take a look at the wiki :)

Wow, you weren't kidding, Mame is great and versatile, but this EMU takes the cake on Neo Geo emulation. I'm impressed...
