An update of the waiting game

The domesday discs mainly consisted of junior school projects (think that's years 3-4 to 6 or 7 in modern parlance, or the run up to your 11-plus in oldey-days speak). There are people committed to keeping the old machines running, but it's the laserdisc machines connecting over 50-pin SCSI that are the main problem I think. You can't just rip the discs to digital because I think most of the info on there is actually analogue video, probably all in 576-line PAL format for extra spookiness. But I suspect the main barrier to getting the data onto something worldwide accessible is that if you did everyone would realise what pants it actually is, and it'd destroy the warm rose-tinted fuzzies someone of my generation gets when talking about it.
If anyone has an answer to this problem, it's probably MAMEDev.

I know I can sympathize with it though. While I'm not from the UK, the Mac had a somewhat similar (but better) program called EA 3D Atlas, back in 1994. Finding a dump of that disc was hard, and sadly, most of the Mac emulators out there are a bit flaky.

It works, but loads a bit too quickly, and so the sound can flake out and skip.

PS: Yes, it's that EA.

Do you believe me if I tell you that I posted that video without seeing your previous answer?

I have Javascript disabled because Netscape Navigator isn't Sunny D enough. Have activated the Macromedia Flash 5 and ActiveX components in addition to VRML mode but your website is out of date. If you have another link to it on Fidonet or perhaps a backup Compuserve? They offer free 60gb hosting now on Geocities so feel free to throw me the correct link when you can. Just remember to write the colon forward slash forward slash. People tend to forget the second slash because they're too used to AOL. What a world.

Sorry your videos still aren't working. For some reason Realmedia player isn't active on this Game Gear thingy. Now possibly you forgot to encode it in divx. Did you confuse it for xvid at all? Well you'll have to go back to Bearshare and get the proper files cause you've been scammed.

Look, i'll make it foolproof because you're noobs at that. FTP is what you want okay, but gimme the link on Trillian because they'll block my ip address if Internet Explorer launches it. This isn't Mosaic days anymore you get me? Just head on over to Download.com and get the download accelerator. You know, the one that doubles your 56k modem speed. But be aware if this is zipped, I aint got a serial for my Winzip and Winrar is for losers. I'll have to regedit the registration date again. Like for the 10th time.

I've been wondering about that, but is that dude some deep learning AI filled with old nerd talk or something?

To this day I'm still not sure why the modern insult is to be called a robot, and your near total lack of honesty means i'll never find out unless I kidnap one of you guys in a rogue ice cream truck for half an hour, with Mr T holding a machine gun in your face. The cowardice is beyond measure.

In cranky kong days we just called each other gay. If you really were found out to be gay 5 large kids at school would hold you down to a desk, very often grab your neck in a choke hold till you couldn't breathe and started to pass out. Enough to not scream, since your voice stopped. And then you were beaten, and nobody in the school would confirm this happened. Or any school. You had to move town and change your name. I'm not joking unfortunately.

You guys are screwed when the robots become self aware. They might do that kind of thing to you, since guess what? Neural net software always clones your behaviour. It will hate you back quickly.

If you want my advice, start insulting clouds or pebbles. Something definitely that won't have a backlash.

Honestly I study nn software for safety. You shouldn't bully it. Really bad idea.
[doublepost=1526699217,1526698148][/doublepost]I really want to reinforce this a bit but robots can kill people. Examples of industrial robots are rollercoasters and volksvagen automation. Both have murdered, and these are the non ai varient.

Go and read a few manuals on Programable Logic Controllers and see how much insane security there is. Or don't. All I can do is give suggestions.

You have no idea what the content of most anns have in their head or why. And the parameters are always badly defined.

Microsoft Cortana is not ann. It gives you false sense of security appearing to be so. It's 1950's insect style programming with masses of variation.

Ann suffers from actual human mental illness. The same patterns emerge. And in order to solve problems it nearly always decides the user going away is success. Often they hide somewhere and stop observing when stuck, but if you back them in a corner they go into decision overload and act irrationally to resolve things. It will lash out and delete your human ass. But hey, I'm not your mom.
[doublepost=1526700115][/doublepost]Okay so instead of lecturing, stuff to think about.

The smaller a dogs brain is the more aggressive.

Microsoft Clippy learned to alienate users and make them go away increasingly quicker = user murder. They gave up on ann.

DARPA stopped using ann when Tomahawk missiles went nuts. They let Sony steal it to be AIBO and Aperious, which has massive behavioural defects and alienates users.

User not there = user must have done task quicker. User must be happy.

The ann in Black and White alienated users and learned to glitch out the graphics api to make users unhappy and many other things. It learned villagers spawn from itself. So does poo. Poo equals villager. Throws villager into water. Slap. Throws poo. No slap. Learns murder of things it spawns is good. Look up reviews.

When Pokemon came out I completed it in around one day. We used the term 'blitz' as in 'to blitz something', as found in Amiga product 'Blitzbasic' meaning don't waste time with extra coding. But of course it's short for Blitzkrieg.

I imported Pokemon Blue from America and blitzed it in a day. And then had the primary knowledge of it being good or not.

Companies don't decide if the game is good. I did. And there were games I never played because some other kid said not to. It just worked like this.

Having blitzed yankee Pokemon this way, i'm ghe best Pokemon trainer. The very best. It isn't an argument or a theory. I blitzed it by myself. That's bravery. That's supremacy and Jon Connor leader of the world. You disagree i'm the very best Pokemon trainer because you lie or have brain damage. So I either grant you healthcare based mercy, and you can have a health powerup for your mental damage and I will tell all the others who may meet you to be nice. Or alternatively you... I don't know. There's a blank space in this Fighting Fantasy book. It got torn out and eaten by a rottweiler. Nobody knows.

Blitzing forums. Blitzing cwappy mobs keyboard. Blitzbasic.

Someone mention Blitzbasic? :O too bad they took down the forum + software recently

Wally reminded me there's certain protocol about writing things on a German server, which is good advice and I forgot due to to the influence of 4chan in later years. So a bit more info.

I grew up as a toddler in a West Berlin military barracks. To get in and out there were armed checkpoints with groups of men carring assault rifles and the occasional tank. Imagine seeing a tank every day after Kindergarten and waving hello to the nice men?

As you can see from the photo I uploaded I had deformities and look misshapen. Yeah so my legs shouldn't work and instead of giving up and being wheelchair bound I took inspiration from the passion of the place I lived, the energy of people. And as a tiny 4 year old with deformed legs decided to march up and down the street for up to six hours at a time. And then ask for missions from officers like that I should tell a joke or do mime artistry or dance like a monkey. They would give me assignments in the morning like do it all on one leg.

In later years it was the same problem for my hands and writing so I just write and write in West Berlin style. And then videogames and then keyboards, programming and forums.

If I don't do this my muscle deteriorates. So I have to keep walking and keep doing something dexterous with my hands forever. It's physiotherapy. Should I not be on a forum I'm coding or writing essays. Yeah, school homework forever and ever till old age. Have pity on me wub.

Have you ever used Qbasic? It's like a really pushy mom that slaps you hand with a cane if you do something wrong. Even a single typo and if you try and press enter for the next line it screams like the German mom in Austin Powers. All lies!

As such there's an appeal to Blitzbasic and not needed Frau Loonatic.

My mom was the same. So when I had handwriting issues aged five she sat over me for 3 hours at a time watching me handwrite, and then merely say with no emotion and an increasingly harsh edge 'no wrong'. Or 'do it again'. And it hurt to the point of crying and I needed a break, so she pushed me too far too quickly. She wanted me to blitz it instead of taking Pyra years and get there the correct speed.

If Frau Loonatic was really why I put effort in, I wouldn't be typing this without 'do it again'.

Microsoft are so like this. Spellchecker, Clippy nutcase. Now Xbox pads for disabled gamers, Kinect for the lazy kids and so forth. And similarly they will probably push you too far too soon, but generally they chilled out from Qbasic days and are less Blitzbasic about it.

My moms favourite games btw are Tetris and Moon Cresta. Would stay up late till 6 AM playing them with no breaks, which the manuals advise against. So you learn these things from your folks kinda.
[doublepost=1526728513][/doublepost]Also Wally needs to understand that Germany is still under military occupation from a guerilla cold war division, because due to salutes and particular wording and requests... 4 year old children have to act like a monkey and tell jokes if ordered.

Those orders were never cancelled. So kids in Berlin are technically the ruling police force of the country and above the government or local police force. Beware when there's a dancing monkey joke crackdown for your failure to comply. Social progress and all that.

Careful Wally. You'll bring the entire EU down if you defy the monkey regiment. Dr Evil laugh.

Not only that, there is an embedded kidnapping threat, a general "backlash" threat. There are non sequiturs that interrupt the thought process (which is a type of aggression, as far as forums go), and falsehoods like: "The smaller a dogs brain is the more aggressive." that have no base in science, because it's a nurture thing (just ask any dog whisperer).

evidence1 evidence2 evidence3

However, even though I myself do not study (Artificial) Neural Networks (a.n.n.), I know the deep implications it will have if we trust it, because it has no humanity in it.

@ashdjones You really need to re-learn putting thought processes into words. I follow you, but I guess 90% does not. For example:

The ann in Black and White alienated users and learned to glitch out the graphics api to make users unhappy and many other things. It learned villagers spawn from itself. So does poo. Poo equals villager. Throws villager into water. Slap. Throws poo. No slap. Learns murder of things it spawns is good. Look up reviews.

Ok, so there is this GAME called Black and White (I own a copy and I regret buying it).
I do not believe it has an (Artificial) Neural Network, just some randomizers with stats for good and evil. I do not think the software "learned" to glitch... the software was buggy even with the patches applied.
The tamagochi/avatar can be learned to do things with slaps or cuddly strokes. Yes, I saw my cow pick up a villager, and throw it behind its back like it was poo, but poo does not spawn from itself.... But then "Look up reviews"? Why not a link to such a review? What is the purpose of checking the review while we have limited leisure time?
And why give it as yet-another example without reasoning?

@Wally: I think you should give @ashdjones a blitz forum experience. What is a blitz forum experience? You signup... you post, you stop using the forum because you get banned... like BlitzBasic, but more like the newer MonkeyX...

The reason: His text parses like Wordsmith output.

Wordsmith – an artificial writer developed by the North Carolina-based company Automated Insights – cherrypicks elements from a dataset and uses them to structure a “human sounding” article. As well as being able to use more emotive language, it varies diction and syntax to make its work more readable.

Presumably you outrank me to offer such critique, so I salute and say yes sir. Shall frequent a different forum. Feel free to cancel this duty via email, Evildragon. Best of wishes, Ash.
